April Newsletter

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

What a fast-paced month March was and the future does not show any signs of slowing. For most of my adult life, the better part of 2 decades, I have served in the military where a fast-paced life is normal. The difference between the Marine Corps and LifeQuest is not the tempo, but the mission. Where once I would move fast to close in and destroy the enemy with superior firepower I now move with the youth and help them to destroy the hold the enemy has over their lives with the love of Christ. I am not speaking ill of my military career as it has helped to shape who I am today. But when these two missions stand side by side, I find the latter both harder and infinitely more important.

On the 22 of March, the 4:13 Journey was able to take 30 youth to Glorieta from Friday evening through Sunday morning. At this camp, we scheduled some really fun things including some rock climbing, black light dodgeball, campfires, and smores. All these things are great but these things are not the point. From the time the youth get on the bus to go to camp until we drop them off with their parents at the end, we get to spend time getting to know each of these youth and form a mentoring relationship focused on sharing the love of Jesus. The impact this weekend had on me, and I believe it had on the youth cannot be overstated as we were able to see some of the youth decide to give their lives to Christ, start the healing process that only Jesus can do, and even form new friendships. We even had one young man make that decision and then ask one of the leaders if he would disciple him. This is just one of many stories that will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I can’t help but reflect on what an organization like LifeQuest and its 4:13 Journey would have done for me when I was younger. How having a positive influence who would share truth in love and would share the teachings of Jesus would have changed my life. Just as I know that Jesus is alive and Lord of all, I also know that he has given us free will and so I Thank You for your willingness to embark on this quest/journey with us to find the lost and show them the way home. Luke 15:20 “So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him.

As John mentioned in last month’s newsletter we have some important dates coming up. The 4:13 Journey is hiking the Grand Canyon at the beginning of May with our largest group yet.  The 11th Annual LifeQuest Charity Golf Classic & Raffle is on June 3rd. Straight Ahead Ministries presents the three-day Ready4Life seminars at the end of June.

I heard it said once that God will move at the speed of our obedience and generosity. Thank you for all you do both in prayers and financial support and may the Lord continue to bless you and guide your path.
