June Newsletter

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.  His love endures forever.”  Psalm136:1

May and June have been and will continue to be incredibly exciting months at LifeQuest!

May was packed full of many preparations and prayer for all of the exciting things taking place in June. Thank you for your continued support and prayers

On June 7 LifeQuest hosted its 8th Annual LifeQuest Charity Golf Classic at Canyon Club. What a day!  We hosted 186 golfers that braved the 90+ degree temperatures to have a great day of golf and meet many of our youth, staff, and volunteers.  It was our largest tournament ever and we are SO grateful for all who came out to support our efforts at reaching youth across New Mexico. We couldn’t have done it without our 20 volunteers and over 25 amazing sponsors!

We are wrapping up our first 4:13 Journey class on June 15 with graduation the following weekend.  Twelve youth have attended weekly classes hearing guest speakers share about humility, faith, gratitude, and other character qualities while attending an outdoor adventure every other weekend including rock climbing, rappelling, hiking, and other activities. Relationships have been built, youth have been challenged, and most importantly all of the youth have been invited into a mentoring opportunity with one of our volunteers.  This has been an incredibly successful first class and will be followed up in the Fall with our next opportunities. Stay tuned!

On June 24 LifeQuest will be providing a hip hop concert at the John Paul Taylor juvenile facility in Las Cruces performed by our very own Josh de la Rosa as a “welcome back” event as we reenter juvenile facilities for the first time in 15 months! Then June 25-27, Scott Larson from Straight Ahead Ministries headquartered in Boston will be presenting the Ready4Life seminar to 15 young men.  Straight Ahead’s Ready4Life Program helps youth evaluate the harmful belief systems, choices, and actions of their childhood and establish new ways of thinking and living as independent young adults. We are so excited about bringing this program back to John Paul Taylor and look forward to the long-lasting results from these three days that we witnessed firsthand two years ago.

All of this is possible because of your ongoing prayers and financial support.  Please prayerfully consider a financial gift to LifeQuest this month as we continue to mentor a future and a hope to New Mexico youth!

John D. Jones, President/CEO
