“My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”

As I write this on Good Friday I can’t help but think there are many throughout the world that are feeling this exact way. Yes, we say all the “right” things and give all the “right” responses in our best Christian ways. But I believe many are suffering from bouts of fear, anxiety, and a general feeling of desperation in these difficult times.

We say “God is in control” but let’s be honest; sometimes it doesn’t “feel like” God is in control. And even if we truly believe God is in control what EXACTLY does that mean as businesses are closing left and right and unemployment is at a level we have never seen in our lifetimes. Yet I believe that today, Good Friday, provides the answer to all of our doubts and fears. You see, without doubt, there is no faith. Without fear there is no courage. And without death, there can be no resurrected life.

I believe many false gods are being revealed during these times. That’s not a bad thing. I believe many are learning (including me) of those areas in our lives where we have allowed other things to creep in and replace God on the throne of our hearts. Money, security and comfort, jobs, the stock market, busyness, relationships and even church as we conduct it in the United States can all take on a place in our lives where only God should be. And if we learn nothing but finding those places in our lives where those false gods are exposed for what they really are during this time then truly “All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.”

LifeQuest continues to do what we can do at this time. All programming has come to a grinding halt to safeguard the young men and women we serve. There is zero programming within the facilities at this time. So we have arranged for our mentors to talk with their kid over the phone weekly. We will be providing individual weekly Bible studies the kids can do on their own. And staff and volunteers will be sending encouraging cards and letters to the kids each week. In addition our volunteers made masks for CYFD staff in the facilities and we will be providing pizza and baked goods for the staff to bless them during this time.

Thank you for your continued support through your prayers and financial partnership during this time. We know that your giving is a true sacrifice right now and it is noticed and appreciated. We thank God for you.

Let me leave you with John 16:33: “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
